Top Mistakes When Using Dietary Supplements

#1- Taking a poor quality supplement.

Unfortunately, most products on the market skim on the quality of ingredients, the form, or the dose. Some big names have failed independent testing

#2- Taking an improper dosage

If a product can't deliver 1,500 mg of glucosamine, 800-1,200 mg of chondroitin, or 300 mg of ASU in a daily dose, forget it. Only these doses have been studied.

#3- Not taking the supplements long enough

At least six months of continuous use is needed to see if the supplements help with pain - two years or more to help slow or stop cartilage loss on x-ray

#4- Not realizing that pain is no way to judge if a supplement is working

The four, large x-ray studies on glucosamine and chondroitin, and the one on ASU show that cartilage loss was stopped or slowed in those who felt no symptom improvement at all! Stay on the supplements for joint health, just like you'd stay on calcium and Vitamin D for the bones.
